XPLOR: Brad, congratulations on your 3 consecutive MRA victories this season, it’s great to chat with you. Let’s start from the very beginning, how did you get into riding?
Racing616: Well, that is probably a story best to be read on my website bradhendry.com! Really, it was something that I saw when I was living here in Colorado for the first time. I was 10 and I was playing football and on the way to and back from practice we would drive by a motocross track. I would be stuck to the window just staring. I started to buy magazines and cut out little dirt bikes to leave on my dad’s desk. He saw I was interested, and took the opportunity to get his first dirt bike. So we actually started together, which is really cool.
XPLOR: Let’s talk about your racing history. How did it begin?
Racing616: Actually, very soon after I started riding I began racing at 12. My first bike was a 1983 Honda XR 80. I had it for about 5 months before I was jumping it and bending the frame. I think my dad realized I wanted to go race pretty quickly, so he bought me a 1994 Kawasaki KX 80. And that is where it all began…..
XPLOR: What initially attracted you to BMW?
Racing616: Other than the fact that I work at an awesome BMW dealership? It really was the BMW BoxerCup in Daytona which got me fired up for the brand. I had been road racing for only one year when I got the chance to ride the R 1100 S in Daytona, and I have been an opposed twin fanatic since. I am finally racing a BMW for a full season on the R 1200 S and I couldn’t be happier. The bike is so great!

XPLOR: Tell us about the dealership experience, since your family runs Foothills BMW.
Racing616: It is very special. Even more so now, with the R12S, because there is so much more dealership involvement in my racing activities. I have been racing for a long time now, but it feels so much more personal and stronger now that I am on a BMW, instead of something from Japan. I have worked in the service department on bikes, at the service and parts counters and now the sales department. I also handle our marketing efforts for Foothills, so I am heavily tied to the dealership. I couldn’t be happier… I am in a good place right now.
XPLOR: You have some real cool racing pics on your XPLOR profile, how often do you visit BMWXPLOR.com?
Racing616: I visit at least once a day when I am at my computer! It can really become quite addicting, but in a good way! I enjoy reading member’s ride reports with images. There is a lot of cool stuff on this site. I try and keep my side of it up to date with pictures and blogs etc, so hopefully there are some people who appreciate that!
XPLOR: Brad, thanks for speaking with XPLOR. Have a great racing season and we look forward to more MRA victories.
Racing616: I look forward to supplying more victories! I would like to say a very special thank you to BMW Motorrad USA, and BMWXPLOR.com for their efforts into my racing this season. Also, my family, Foothills, and all of the amazing BMW fans, here in Colorado and on XPLOR!
