Hi Everybody, Please feel free to tell us about yourselves. Let's get to know the members on Xplor. You can share about the bikes you have, or you have had, maybe some background info too. Cheers, S

I might as well kick this thing off Shiva! The name is J.R., most people call me Lance (middle name). Born in Brooklyn, NY. Father from the cayman islands, Mother from Harlem by way of the Carolinas. Grew up an athlete, competitive swimmer for 10 years and played competitive Basketball for two years in H.S., Div. I college ball, and a short semi-pro career (ended by a knee injury). HS teacher & girl's b-ball coach for a short time after college, and now i sell real estate in my hometown. A visual artist and musician at heart but much more of a fan in those areas these days, although i do write a little when inspired. I also have my own car consulting (expanding into motorcycles) business which was a hobby of mine since i was about 13. This is hard... I think I'm saying much more than necessary... I'm a Vegan, super health conscious, MOTORCYCLE RIDING, car loving, music loving, do-gooding fool these days who cannot get enough of the things i love and find life to be a glorious trip amidst all of the ills, deception, corruption, violence and destructiveness of the world. I developed my obsession of cars and bikes at an early age... i knew how to drive when i was 8 and have owned about 14 cars since then... and two motorcycles. My first being a 1995 kawasaki ninja 1100D, purchased in 99 and ridden for 3 years before selling it. I knew then what my next bike would be... a GS. the sheer size and height of the bike is what sold me as I am 6'7" and find very few bikes comfortable. so.... i waited until i could afford one, and this summer i bought my '06 R1200GS rock red and i love it. the most versatile motorcycle in the world! it is a cruiser, sport bike, tourer all rolled up into one large package! The HiBeem plate was originally supposed to go on my 87 BMW 635CSi but it never happened and so when i got the GS i felt it was equally fitting and easily handed down. I ride as a daily commuter and throughout the city but try to escape as much as possible with short trips to CT., bear mtn, or finding good twisties to play on for hours at a time. Longest trip so far is Montreal (check my profile pics) but I am planning on riding down to Miami for new years with my best friend. Next year, i plan to visit a buddy in madrid, rent a bike and tour europe for a few weeks. Are there any other vegan bikers out there?!!!! Riding is so much better... j.r.l.a. --------------------------------- "Riding is so much better..." SKDMRKS:MOTO:BKLYN j.r.l.a.

Hi, All. Where to begin? My name is Swen. For the last six years I've been an engineer for Lockheed Martin in Littleton, CO. People will ask if I'm really a rocket scientist; I consider myself to be more of a rocket plumber. When I'm not at work, I try to enjoy Colorado's outdoors. The image above is of me practicing my backcountry cuisine technique in the San Juan mountains. I also run in the middle of the pack in triathlons and marathons. The body fuels the mind, and both fuel the spirit. I am to be married this September to the young lady seen here. She's my constant passenger, co-conspirator, and fellow engineer. If you see us out there, give a wave. We will. --------------------------------- "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria."." -- Benjamin Franklin

Grew up around motorcycles here in SoCal. Never knew my Grandpa Olaf but have a cool picture of him aboard his Henderson. Dad alway's had many bikes. Usually at least 6 of them in the garage and always an Indian and a Triumph in the line up. Learned to ride when I was around 12 years old and have never been without a motorcycle of some kind. 1st bike was a Mustang and over the years have owned at least 50 bikes just at a guess. After totaling my Honda ST1100 last year I finally bought my 1st BMW. Proud to say I am now the owner of an 04' R1150GS Adventurer. I do a lot of touring and camping with friends and the big GS is the perfect platform for what I want. In the 1st year of ownership i've clocked over 32,000 miles. After 15 years as an aircraft assembler for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing along with numerous other related aircraft jobs I finally landed a job helping develop/assemble cruise missles for a company in San Diego. My backround in assembly allows me to make most of accessories and camp gear.

Hello everyone.
Never got a chance to "Introduce" myself on the previous forum. My name is Tom Lombardini and I reside in Northern NJ. Have been riding for some 30 years and love the feeling of freedom it gives me. Traded in my H-D Sportster back in late August for an R1200RT and look forward to touring with it. I've been on a few nice trips with my Sportster and after the first trip to Watkins Glen and Wellsboro PA, I became addicted to overnight trips with my bike. There is nothing like it. I ride all year (pending the presence of snow and ice). When I was young, there were two things that I loved to do: Riding my bike all over the place and swimming underwater. These activities manifested themselves into the two best experiences I've every had. Motorcycling and Scuba Diving. (I'm not talking warm Carribean either. I'm talking Northern NJ Wreck and Beach diving.) There is just a sense of freedom to both. I'm glad I got into this forum on the "ground floor" and look forward to being an active participant. The other forum was extremely helpful and I hope to find the same here. Enjoy! Hello, my name is Golden Carper---yep, Golden. Live in Rockledge, Florida. Have owed bikes since I was 16, 68 now. Didn't own a car until I was 22, AF was sending us to N Dakota and didn't think my AJS could make it. Bought my first BMW when I was stationed in Germany, a 1977 R100/7. Loved that bike, we traveled all over Europe on it. Retired from the AF, taught school for 15 years and retired again. Currently own a 1982 R100 and a 1984 R65. Picture is of my wife Margie and me with the R65 in N. Carolina. Oh yes, still own a car----Z3

Hello all!I'm Steve, presently from Arkadelphia, AR. I'm a Californian by birth, but I've been fortunate enough to live all over this country at one time or another. I've been riding since I was a child, then had to give up bikes and pay child support. Now the kids are grown, the payments have stopped, and daddy went and bought himself a new 'LT.I've put over 12,000 miles on her in just over four months, and I'm thinking the warranty will run out before the year does.I'm looking forward to learning from you guys. There must be a millineum of combined riding experience in here!TYPE LESS. RIDE MORE.---Steve

Hey, My name is John. Im from Whitsett, NC and Ive been riding BMW's since 2002 when I found the R1150R in BLACK! The wife told me to go get it and I took my first "real" road trip on it to Jacskonville FL for a week of buisness. Sadly I wrecked it and bought a 2003 R1100S Prep and have been slowly modifying it. Being a car/bike technician Ive done all my own maintenance on it including a new clutch this past June. Im normally riding in the NC moutians ranging from the Morganton area up to Floyd VA. Im interested in riding on the track as Im only an hour from VIR. Im also a active employee at VIR as a corner worker, much fun! Heres a current pic of my bike. Honestly I hate silver, so I had to break it up a bit! Needless to say it helps in visability, and havent gotten any crap from the cops...........yet! Ride Safe! John

Hi all from beautiful Utah! When I looked for pictures I realized the only ones I had didn't have me in them. It dawned on me that it's always been about the trip. I love to ride the red rock country of southern Utah and the picture I've chosen is an almost surreal picture of Zions National Park. Here's a quick snapshot of me: Former professional tennis player. Built, owned and operated a tennis club in the Bay Area, hitchhiked through South America, served in Vietnam, owned my own businesses and currently am a managing director and partner of a national executive management firm. Hit 60 yrs on Christmas Eve and am looking way past it because it's all in the mind. Started riding on Yamaha's in the 70's, Yamaha's in the 80's, kawi's in the 90's and kawi's and a Scarabeo 500 maxi-scooter in this decade. This summer, I just bought an 06 1200 RT. Now that the kids are out of the house and on their own or in college, we've decided to make a major move and go to the western part of North Carolina. Closer to the kids and closer to some new great roads (can you say dragon?). I think everyone should change it up every 25 years and I've definitely done that. Hope to see many of you on the board and on the road in the East. Cheers! Bruce H.
