Summer is almost here and it is time to share some ride routes and adventures.

Where will your next bike adventure lead you?  What countries, states, cities?

What type of riding will you do?  Dirt/off road, slab, backroads/twisty stuff, track, ride school, racing?

Solo or with companions?

How long? a day or days, a week or weeks, a month or months?

What bike will you ride?

What is the oddest thing you will take on your bike for the trip?

My next adventure? That will be this Saturday.

See, with my new supermotard, just about every ride is an adventure. I'm learning to do wheelies. I can sometimes slide the back tire just before a turn. Someday I'll start working on stoppies.

Heck, now that the days are long, I might go out after work today. Ah, summer time!

Where will your next bike adventure lead you? Oh Boy, leaving tomorrow for 4 days in the NC/TN Smoky Mountains: Deals, Cherohala, Blue Ridge, and the multitude of twisties in the area.  And looks like excellent weather.

What type of riding will you do?  Twisties, twisties, twisties.  We'll probably have to break up into groups as we have some cruisers going along!

Solo or with companions? 2 RTs, 3 HDs, 3 VTXs, a Suzuki, an FJR, a Victory Vegas Jackpot with custom paint and a pregnant woman in a Miata!

How long? 4 good days, 3 nights in a large rental cabin.

What bike will you ride? R12RT!

What is the oddest thing you will take on your bike for the trip?  Hmmm, do you count me?  Other than that, a seat bag with games, poker chips and cards, and a large bag of Partagas cigars.  Did you know that with an eraser you can change "Partagas" into "Fart Gas" quite easily?

Getting home from work today turned out to be my next adventure.  Who'da thunkit?

We're having some supercell activity around here or something, I had the pleasure of riding home through heavy rain, weaving around downed branches (and one whole tree).

The whole thing was facilitated by the lost truck that stopped at every intersection for about 1/4 of my trip.

Good questions Red.

I've got no specific plans but general destinations that I will touch this summer.  Unfortunately, my trip out to Denver to meet my sister-in-law and wifey for some rides has gotten scrubbed.

Trips of necessity will include going to Ft Mills, SC to see a sick sister, a chance to ride some back roads but mostly slabbin'

A trip to see my old mother over a weekend in Ohio a chance to ride flat Ohio but again mostly slabbin'

A weekend in Maine to visit a welder I worked with 24 years ago and to deliver a book with a story about him in it.  And to visit a very dear friend who is a tree farmer to discuss global warming.

And yes, I am having trouble looking beyond June 8 when the next Space Shuttle is scheduled to go.  last time I tried bikin' down there I met E which was good, but the shuttle got struck with lightning which was bad.   Again, a lot of slabbin' but the eastern shore is nice.

All rides will be on the black 04 1150 R

Oddest thing besides a book with a story in it about a friend will be my blood pressure medication.

Well, you asked.

OH BTW, took the wifey two weekends ago to Rhinebeck NY about 140 miles through twisties from here to see a friend who had a car in the car show and then turned around and came back and the wifey loved it, her first time that far.

Pat,

I just got back from a great ride from Iowa up to the Twin Cities/ Minnesota.

The Great River Road through Wisconsin and back through Minnesota was fantastic.

Lots of twisties, rolling hills, and fabulous scenery.

The next trip starting May 31 thru June 8th is out to upstate New York to see a best friend and family.

I'm riding solo...feel most comfortable that way. Great clearing of the soul.

Taking the R1200GS since part may be super slab but hope to find some twisties. May spend a day riding around the Finger lake area when I get out there.

The oddest thing I carry outside of a tube of Preperation H talk_to_the_hand would be the ashes of my Great Uncle Gunther.skull

I've been trying to dispose of that guy since 1974. The old fart was never happy and claimed he never went anywhere fun. RIP...Rest in Pieces biggrin you old b_stard.

Well, it looks like I'm heading to Portland, Oregon!  I fly SWAirlines on 6/18 and pick up my Boxer Cup Replica from a dude that just bought a 1098 DUC.

I haven't figured out my exact route home as yet, but I do hope to shake Merrill's hand in Washington state and see Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota as I head eastward!

Outside of that.... it'll just be 2000 miles of heaven....biggrin

Looks like a fun summer ahead for riders.

I'll be taking the K12S mid-June and head solo from TX up to Vermont for a small rally, then swing into Canada... just for the strip search on the way back across the border....

Routes?  First to visit one sis in Alabama, then to visit another sis in WV, and maybe to connect with about 70 or so wild gals on bikes in PA, then... it just doesn't matter as long as there are twisty backroads calling....

Looks like we'll be ships passing in the night.crying

I should be scooting through Vermont on June 15 or 16 on the way home from Toronto.

Route 100 in Vermont heading north to south is totally awesome

( twisty...not a lot of traffic... fast) as is route 7A which moves in

the same direction and is referred to as the Historic route. It just passes through one

picture postacrd town after another.  No end of wonderful places to stay.

Fast.... oh yeah... I remember fast.

Ah yes, I've been told of these roads and will certainly be riding them in a few weeks.

I'm still thinking about going to the mid-ohio if Charlie's still gonna be there.   Hector expressed some interest as well.  I'd like to continue on to the smokies/deal's gap and whereever.  Charlie? Hector?

Hey Larry.   Hector.  I'm thinking I'm still a possible participant for the Ohio leg of that trip.  Especially with the Boxer Cup arriving in June.  Keep me posted if you guys are gonna show.

Charlie is still going to race at mid-Ohio.  At the moment he is at the New Ulm British and European Motorcycle Rally, sleeping on the ground next to his Thruxie! (This isn't the race bike.)
