Well I guess it had to happen.
The Orange and Black got my dollars today I came across a Harley and lost my heart, had to have it. Maybe it was the soft leather, or the bad black finish. Or the custom touches. It just seems it will do the job for which it is designed so well. Was pretty easy to rationalize actually. One for local trips and long distance also. I just cannot seem to get my fill of these. Running out of storage. Which one you ask...................... The Harley Davidson Ride Atlas of North America! Check it out, it's pretty cool. Hey Dr. Bob, that is cool. I'm riding in the Western NC mountains again this weekend and I was just telling my buddy there must be a decent good 'off main roads' atlas somewhere. I need to head to a bookstore. Rob

Two questions: Can you get any chrome farkles to dress it up? Maybe a bookmark or corner trim? Does it list all the trailer repair shops, I would think that would be a must for a Harley atlas

Bob, You had me going for a time there... couldn't believe what I was reading... but..... Found some terrific new-to-me roads today from Dripping to Salado. Incredibly fun sweepers and empty roads. I'll have to email you a map. Thanks for your playful thread! ---------------------------------

Dangit. I was building a picture of you in leather chaps, a flames do-rag, and one of those leather vests with all of the rally pins on it. And you were smoking a thin cigar. And smoking it well. And the scary thing, my friend? . . . the image looked pretty natural on you . . . Unclench, Bob. Let out your inner, leather-clad rebel. C

Well I have to admit, you had me there Bob. I went for it hook, line and sinker. Actually, It was pretty easy for me to fall for. There isn't anything with 2 wheels, or 3, that doesn't capture at least a little of my attention. Yesterday while waiting to meet the local "adventure rider" club at Starbucks a group of about 10 Goldwings and 2 Electraglides showed up (as well as a '40 sompthin Moto Guzzi. If I can get the pic from my phone I'll share it) All of the 'Wing riders were wearing leather, several fringed. One of the Harley riders was wearing Joe Rocket jacket and pants.

I bit. I'll also say that w/ unlimited funds I'd have a heated garage and one of the bikes would be a Harley. They really are pretty in a way that no other bike is. Kind of like women, I suppose, I'd always rather be w/ Marianne, but I'm still gonna look at Ginger.

(Had to switch browser's Kip). No. It's NOT right. Kind of shakes one's perception of reality, like when I logged on and it said you were the last poster 23 seconds ago, but you weren't there. Maybe he was just testing out somebody else's bike. And maybe you're still not really here. --------------------------------- If you meet the Buddha, kill him

No but they do have a list of dealers on each page so you can replace all those silly little parts.
Reminds me of a Chevy Vega I had during grad school. The car rusted away at the same rate that the cylinder walls wore out, so the power to weight ratio remained the same. Clever those Chevy engineers. Bob --------------------------------- "Go out, things happen. Stay at home, they don't" .....................Ted Simon

"All of the 'Wing riders were wearing leather, several fringed. One of the Harley riders was wearing Joe Rocket jacket and pants." I'm starting to see these changes too -- the other day I saw a guy with a big beautiful BMW with a 1/2 helmet with stickers all over it. And a women wearing pink fringed chaps and pink boots get off her BMW. And yes, I'm seeing riders of all brands starting to wear vests with pins and colors. And seeing Harley riders with full gear just seems almost alien (of course his buddies kidded him profusely).

How's this for messed up: My BMW is a cruiser (R1200C of course). My "Harley" is a sportbike (Buell Ulysses, with a mistake in the title where it says "H-D"). My dirtbike is better in corners than a sportbike (KTM640 dualsport with supermoto wheels). I can confuse almost any stereotype...and I love it. I will admit to being as surprised as anyone that I now own (and am very happy with) a Buell.
