I have a 2007 1200 ADV and have added a Garmin 376c gps with a touratech mount. Lovely setup, holds well, locks, is easy to see, and out of the weather. The hockey puck size xm antenna is a problem though. I have been carrying it in my tank bag, Anybody got an idea on how to mount it firm and make it look like it grew there?

I am not familiar with the antenna, but can you mount it under the rear luggage rack? Or under the front fender there is some room near the oil cooler. I have a Piaa lightbar that mounts to the oil cooler bracket and it works great. Good luck. Kevin

They make a magnetic mount for the GXM-30 that fits right behind the GPS mount. I have this setup on my bikes and it works great. I want to purchase another one, but could not google it yesterday?

I tryed the ram mount approach with the gps and could not get it to hold. G outs, stutter bumps etc would case it to creep. So I mounted it with a touratech close to the sheild. I need to post a pic this weekend. For the same reason, I don't think the mag mount will hold.

I have Serius but I mounted the antennae right behind the windshield on the center bracket. I used double sided tape for adhesion and it works pretty well. It is out of the way and is sometimes a little spotty on reception but for the most part works well. You will have a problem under tree cover and along steep hills like when riding in the mountains. My radio does not record so I use an iPod to solve that problem. Good luck with it!

I sometimes use my SERIUS Satellite radio on the GS ADV and put the antenna on the top case with velcro on both sides, and it stays there. On rough rides I don't use it, or dare to listen to the radio (real offroad).
Use 3M stickies on the antenna and the surface, and then stick a permanent velcro piece on the top case, and on the base of the antenna, which you can install or take out as pleased. Good luck

I have XM on my 07 RT. You definately have to locate it top side, it has to have line of site with the sky. I also used double sided tape to mount mine behind the windshield. Also XM has some very small antenna's, close to 1.5 " by 1.5". Maybe you can get a different antenna before permanently mounting the one you have.

I researched the small antenna and came across some interesting news. The antenna I have actually is the xm radio. It contains the hardware to allow radio and nexrad. My subscribtion is tied to the antenna. This does explain the mass of the beast.

I put my Sumo 550 antena (XM Radio) right in the front under the windshield in a square piece that fits perfectly. Two tie wraps and has never come off even on off road situations. It is somewhat permanent there, otherwise the tie wraps have to come off to put on another vehicle. Hope it helps.
