Since the BMW X-Bikes are brand new, I thought we should start a thread for the new owners to share experiences, problems, fixes, questions, gripes, praise, tips etc.

I bought a car back in '98 that was the first model year and swore I would never do that again.  However the X-Challenge was just to tempting for me.  Now I am trying to feel my way through the trials and tribulations of this new bike.

 Who wants to start?

For serious north east enduro riding the stock mirrors will snap off, tail fin has a short life span, and that charcoal canister won't hang there too long.  All these DOT items would need to be modified on any D/S bike.

I added folding mirrors from Baja Design, $15 each.

Removed canister.  Just cap off the one line and run the vent hose out the bottom of the bike.

Tail fin is huge and heavy.  I see that Touratech has a decent replacement but I will fabricate my own.

Next on my list will be a rack for the rear and a "ralley kit" for the front headlight/fairing.

Here is my post in the Adventure Riding forum:  http://www.bmwxplor.com/forums/topic/show/1293#new

Mine broke off riding down the road..... No Enduro needed. Maybe its Collusion with TT that made them so weak?

The tailfin does have a "quick disconnect" so it may be removed for off-roading.  However the point of a "dual-purpose" is to be able to ride it to and from your off-roading.  Maybe with GPS, you could take it off and leave it in the weeds somewhere and GPS your way back to it when ready to go home?

Any one having any low rpm hesitations or engine stalling while engine braking down into first?

Almost every picture of the X-Challenge that owners post, I see owners have replaced the stock Sahara tires.  Any comments on tires?

I commute daily on my X-Challenge and have gone on a couple of 250 mile road trips.  It is awesome on the road.  It is by far the largest and heaviest bike I have ever tried to take off road.  So I am learning some new physics.
