I have a new 2007 R1200RT with ESA, and I have noticed that on acceleration and deceleration there is a noticable surge or rise and fall on the front end of the bike. It makes no difference what the ESA setting is. It can be firm or soft, single or two up. It is not settling during braking. Could this be drive line lash? Is this typical of this bike, or has anyone else noticed this on their bike?

I have a fairly new RT without ESA. I have the rear preload and damping set pretty firm. The nose of the bike will rise during hard acceleration and fall during deceleration. I've never been bothered by it. I'm unsure of how easy it would be to firm up the front end, but for me, the RT handles great and the brakes are awesome. Once you get some weight transfer to the front end, the bike stops pretty quickly. Anyhow, I think that the rising and falling of the front end is normal.

This is my first bike and I kinda expected a little less rise and fall with the telelever front end, BWTFDIK.... I'm used to it now. I love this bike, hope you do to! -- Jack --------------------------------- "There ain't no Devil, there's just God when he's drunk." -- T. Waits

Any motorcycle will raise and lower under acceleration and deceleration, even the telelever. The telelver restricts the "dive" of conventional forks, where the rake would be extended. My 04 RT raises and lowers. I can tell by my headlight on the road signs when I am on and off the throttle, etc. but it is just part of the best riding experience you can have!!!
