BMW R1200S CONTNUES ON THE PODIUM IN THE MRA SUPERTWINS GTO HELD IN HASTINGS NE

The BMW R1200S piloted by #616 Brad Hendry maintained overall top points position in the Supertwins GTO competition with a second position at the MRA (Motorcycle Racing Association) race weekend held at the Motorsports Park Hastings complex in Hastings Nebraska.

The 4th MRA Supertwins GTO race of the season on Sunday saw the BMW R1200S, starting from pole position, into second position at turn 1 just trailing the Ducati 1098S piloted by Jon Glaefke. On the long back straight the higher horse-powered 1098S pulled away from BMW R1200S while the BMW R1200S played catch up to the Ducati in the infield.  “The telelever suspension system and the excellent torque characteristics on the BMW allowed me faster entrance and exit corner speeds so I could catch the Ducati in the in-field of this very fast Hastings track” said Brad.

The BMW and Ducati pulled away from the rest of the field of Ducati’s and Aprilla’s and essentially held the same positions until the end of the race. “Jon kept pulling away from me on the two long straights and I kept closing the gap in the in-field” said Hendry. “However I could not get close enough to force a pass. Jon has figured it out….he is going to be hard to beat now”

This is the fourth podium finish for the BMW R1200S in as many races and keeps the BMW in the top points position in the Supertwins GTO class.

In the Heavyweight Supersport class the BMW R1200S started from fourth position and after some great dueling with a Suzuki GSXR 750 finished fifth for the day in a field of 16 riders, including a strong group of contingency chasing professionals. The BMW R1200S is now fourth in overall points in the heavyweight Supersport class trailing a Yamaha R6 and two GSXR 750’s.

Hi Brad, Thanks for this update and congrats on another podium finish.  You can't let the 1098S rider get away with this mutiny, the championship belongs to you.  Hope you can find way to up the performance even further on your 12S.  Cheers, S

Hey great job buddy!!!!  Also at Road America we had to ride hard on the infield to get away from the Ducati.  Enough of a gap was pulled that he could not make up on the straights, but man your coming along great on the R1200S!

All those seasons in the AMA is paying off!  Also, great job in Iowa.  Brian Kracget is a good friend of mine who is in critical condition after that race.  We are all praying for him!

Everybody, thank you again for all of the support! I will write about the MOTO ST (Podium for Team Motorrad on the BMW R 1200 S!) weekend very soon, but right now I am still thinking of an appropriate way to get all my feelings out. The short of it is that the BMW was awesome, team was awesome, and the track was frightening, and should not have motorcylcle racing held there. PERIOD.

Nate, glad you are out and racing again man, missed you in Iowa....... And by the way, I have only had one season of AMA racing......that is singular. :) I like to think that it is more the awesome MRA club here in Colorado that is paying off, our riders are very fast!

Hey Brad,

Continue to take a bow!  So good to see what you are achieving with the R12S.  Stopped by the shop yesterday to show the flag (figuratively speaking) but you weren't around.  Gave everyone a hard time and drained their capacity.  Ha!
