An auto transporter ship, with hundreds of new BMW cars went down in the English channel several years ago.  It was successfully salvaged and the fascinating salvage story is here: http://www.tricolorsalvage.com/pages/infographic.asp

 How about that.  I remember when that ship went down.  Thought all the BMW cars were still at the bottom of the channel!

I saw this on a national news broadcast. They said by maritime law, thefinder could keep it. I wonder how in the world someonecould get the title for the bike!

I thought I read that by law they could keep whatever was recovered from the beach as long as they report what they recovered to some agency.

 I do wonder how much water contaminated the bikes.
