Hello everyone.  Introducing myself here for the first time on Xplor.  Same handle as on ADV Rider, UKGSer, Motoaventuras.net. etc.   Have posted some pics of recent touring in southern Mexico that I hope give the flavour of it for those of you who haven't yet been.  They are under my profile.  Cheers!

Sweet photos Roger.

How many were in your group?  Some of the shots of the ferry seemed to show many, many BMW bikes, but other shots seemed to show a smaller group.

Welcome to the forum.  Would love to see some of your ride reports.

I'm itching to get out of dodge and head way south into Mexico.

What was your biggest challenge, and what was the biggest joy?

Thanks for sharing the ride with us.

Thanks Redstreak2.  Glad you liked them.  The Ferry picture was from the tenth International BMW rally in Cancun last October.  Several hundred bikes went over to Isla Mujeres on the Ferry that day.  No hunger or sadness or thirst to be found that day.  Other pics are of smaller ride groups into Campeche,Tabasco, Chiapas.  Seven bikes that 12 day trip.  Biggest challenge?  Not breaking anything you can't fix.  Biggest joy?  To enjoy the road on a BMW with friends.  It doesn't get better than that.  If you are interested, the eleventh Mexican BMW rally is in Monterrey beginning on October 18th. Google "XI Convencion BMW Monterrey" and it should pop up.   Any problems PM me and I will dig out the link. It is not too far from you and is a good excuse to ride to Mexico.  Promises to be a very good rally.  Will be riding up to that one from the south-east with about 40 riders.

Hi Catcom....Glad you found a system that works for you.  Just had another great ride.  Thirty days and 12,000 km.  Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida, Campeche, Villahermosa, Veracruz, Tampico, Ciudad Victoria, Monterrey (XI BMW Moto Convention), Durango, Mazatlan, Los Mochis, Chepe Train to Barrancas del Cobre, explored there a bit, back to Mochis, up to El Fuerte, back to Topolobampo for the ferry to La Paz BCS, Todo Santos, Cabo San Lucas (service), San Jose del Cabo, and up the Baja via La Paz, Loretto, Mulege, Santa Rosalia, Guerrero Negro, Valle de Guadalupe (Ruta del Vino) back to Ensenada (La Bufa), San Diego briefly for a new rear tire and then back down the Pacific Coast.....Puerto Penasco, Guymas, Mexcaltitlan, San Blas, then to Tequila, Guadalajara, Valle del Bravo, Puebla, Veracruz, Villahermosa (still very flooded out then), Bacalar, Tulum and back to start.  When things get quieter will post some pics.  Cheers!biggrin

Bienvenido y muy interesantes tus fotos!! Muchas gracias!

You certainly seemed to have a great time!  Was this an organized group, or someone of the group had a plan. That is one of the areas my husband and I want to visit. We are fluent in spanish no problem with that. Do you have a ride report planed? Would love to see that. Now stuck in the snow, good time do dream...plan!smile

Yes I will try to get some photos and captions up from that 30 day Mexico ride.  Only problem is not much time for documentation and posting.  The 30 day ride was with members of our club MC Cancun Riders a regional affiliate of the BMW National Club.   We are a young club but we ride alot.  BTW the club functions in Spanish.  Have never spoke a word of English there ever.

Right now some of us are getting ready to ride from Playa/Cancun area through Chiapas, Guatemala, El Salvador (XI Convencion Internacional BMW 2008), Honduras, then returning via Guatema, Belice and back to Quintana Roo.  Really......when I get back......I'll really try to get caught up.....  All the best for the New Year.   biggrin

So, have you considered adding Leakey, TX, Twisted Panty III, to your social calendar?  I highly recommend it and methinks it's not too far from parts of Mexico.  Just a little food for thought.

Laissez le Bon Temps Rouler, yall.

Hello Everyone! A promise is a promise. After slaving over a hot computer in the 30 degree Celsius heat I have posted pics of the 30 Day Ride under my Profile.  Didn't get gone on the big Central America ride as the vagaries of life got in the way.  But I hope to fix that real soon.  Hope you enjoy the ride!
