The 2007 Pine Barrens 500 will take place Oct 12, 13 and 14th in Hammonton, New Jersey, the site of the first XPLOR event last April. The ride will be similar to the EXLOR the Pines event and will cover about 500 miles in the three days.
The ride is hosted by The Pine Barons Enduro Riders with the help of three other enduro clubs, Meteor, Tri-County and MCI. There will be support vehicles and sweep riders on the route all three days to help out with any issues that may arise.
The ride will be GS friendly with go arounds for the big bikes and hero sections for those who want a little more excitement. The event will be navigated by GPS only, there are no arrows or route sheets available. If you don't have a GPS ( we prefer Garmin ) you can ride with a group that does. This event is designed to be enjoyed by experienced riders. The Saturday morning ride will be the easiest section and could be done by a beginner. Sunday will be the most challenging, but still doable on a GS if the go arounds are used. Friday will be the best and longest day, covering about 175 miles of the best sand and gravel roads in the Pine Barrens.
I rode fridays route yesterday 7/30/07, just after and during a downpour and had a blast. My X-Challenge didn't miss a beat ridng through the rain soaked and sometimes flooded trails.
Event Registration will open in September and XPLOR members will be given the opportunity to register before the general public. The event will be limited so check out the
www.pinebarrens500.org website for more details and watch for the opening of registration.
Thanks
