anyone have any experience with the touratech bar risers? they cost like $57 on sierra's website.

i am 6'7" and my GS ride position could definitely improve. I either have to slouch a lot or my arms are just lower than ideal. I noticed it the most when riding off road for the first few times. I cannot stand up straight. From my calculations, standing up straight may be completely out of the question but I'd like to improve the position nevertheless.

I was thinking about getting some bar risers and possibly some adjustable pegs. Although the latter makes me nervous for spirited backroad twisty days. I can be sort of aggressive at times and my feet have dragged a number of times  on a tight bend. Am I just being paranoid?

There is another bar riser that brings the bars up a bit and back a bit. I don't know if that will make things better or worse (coming back, i mean) as far as arm position. anyone?

Thanks!

With the pegs I have seen some that also moved the pegs backwards a bit.  That might give you  a little more room without sacrificing ground clearance.  If I see them again I'll send them on.  I have heard good things about the bar risers but have no experience.  Good luck!  Kevin

Man you're tall, hope you've considered the adventure model!!

But in all seriousness look at the ones at  www.adventurersworkshop.com

They should come long enough to work for even you. Hope this link works?? Good it does, it's the AWS risers, they go up 65mm which for us sub metric people is about, almost 3" which would help ,Alot! They may even be able to make up a custom order if you ask. Doesn't hurt to call them and see what they think, as they are pretty innovative as you can see by some of their products.

Let us know if this helps??

You don't want to go with Twisted Throttles 1" up and 1" back as this maybe even worse! The AWS ones have places to mount your electronics thru screw holes for RAM mounts on their top, they aren't cheap, but near 3" rise would definitely be getting close to where you need, I believe there is a ride report by a tall guy with the same problem their, but not sure.

JCwink

PS: The ROX riser offer a 2 1/4" rise at a cheaper price, but I believe a call to them will help decide which is best !!Good Luck! And don't be draggin nothin' on the ground at that altitude its scarrysilly

Hey JC,

your post cracked me up and was super helpful. i wish the gallery was a little better but the AWS risers look like the way to go. And I like the potential for directly screwing in accessories to it. That's hot!  The fact that I don't have  to modify anything is also a plus. I will give them a call and let ya'll know if I decide to get them and how it works out.

As far as the height thing, i've been lucky enough to be fairly well balanced and coordinated. So I don't mind throwing myself around even at this height. Being an athlete for most of my life helped with that i'm sure.

Besides that my friends and brother seem to get a kick out of seeing me ride and they say i make the bike look small. You gotta see me with my legs up on the highway pegs, me sitting on the passenger seat all sprawled out! Now THAT is comfortable!

okay....

i ended up getting the AWS risers 65mm and plan on installing them this week, hopefully.

has anyone installed these on their GS? if so, is there anything i need to know before doing so?

the instructions seem pretty straight forward and they seem to be plug and play but there is some mention about repositioning one of the cables (throttle, i think).

lemme know...
