Hello Everyone, Our Tech-Team is working on updating the XPLOR web site which was launched about a year and a half ago and we'd love to hear your feedback.  Of course we are looking at the "Comments Anyone?" thread where you have been posting your comments, but it would be good if we can have more of an up-to-date feedback from you. Remember this is for the whole web site, which includes events, blogs, pics, videos, forums, profiles, registration and login in.

> Please tell us what you like about XPLOR web site.

We very much appreciate your feedback.  Thank you.  smile S

Hey Shiva,

Overall it's a good site, but functionally lacking many useful features of the old (or other) Forums.

Here's what I'd like:

1) Ability to insert videos.  Not upload (I know that costs storage space), but INSERT You Tube and other videos like you can on other sites.  That way, some other site hosts the storage.

2) I know I can hit the button at the top and see all posts I've INITIATED.  I'd like to be able to do a search on all posts I've ever made.  For that matter, anyone.  For example, I'd like to search all posts made by a specific user, like NUT, Cman, JC, etc., using their actual handles of course.

3) Improve the search engine.  If you search "PIAA lights" it should find all the posts, not just the top 10.  Also, group them so each Main Post is one line, not every subpost as a single hit.  Allow advanced search, like "all words", "any word", "exact wording" etc.

4) I'd like to search for a particular user.  For example, someone I meet on the road might search for me and only remember "robo".  If you enter "robo", you won't find me.  You have to enter "RoboRider" or it won't find me.  That's not too useful.

Thanks,

Robo

I like to respectfully request a waiver of the "Ten Post Per Day" limit for Nutman.

The poor guy is suffering.

I want so little - I almost hate bringing it up.....

1)  As we had with the old site, stop forcing us to sign in with user name and password EVERY time we visit the the site (can you give us 30 days?  90 days?  six months?).

2)  I still contend the 10 post limit is generally counterproductive to what BMW is trying to accomplish here - if someone is abusing the site with excessive or inappropriate postings, deal with that individually.  Give us some slack on the 10 post limit....  or, at least give us a counter that lets us know how many posts we have left.  I can't take that sudden rejection. wink

I still like my "old" idea of selling us unlimited posts ($10 per month?  Name your price and donate the proceeds to charity).  It could go to BMW's support of breast cancer research.  d_oh

3)  Fix the email notification for PMs and thread alerts.  It's still not working.

4)  Keep Shiva all warm, fuzzy and hugable.  We've all kinda warmed up to him.  Tear up all the "fire Shiva" petitions and use the shredding for Richie's Christmas package stuffing. biggrin

PS.  #4 was my attempt at humor, to lighten the mood.  Nothing to be taken seriously.  Just the Nutman being a little nutty.  It's allowed from time to time....

My browser occasionally chokes on some posts with multiple photos. By chokes, I mean it takes a long, long time to open/read a post with multiple pics. (I use firefox on a 4 year old power mac.) I love seeing other people's photos, but would like to be able open the posts a little faster. I don't know if this is a common problem and I don't have a solution. Just a little feedback. Keep up the good work.

-- Jack

p.s. I'll be happy to donate a couple posts to Nut. Maybe you could have a "donate a post to Nut fund" or somesuch scheme to let Nut write.

Welll... i very much appreciate this site.

I like big time the sense of community that is shaping up.

I like being able to upload pics from my desktop as opposed to having to Smug Mug it.

I think our moderator has done a real fine job wearing the UN Blue Helmet.

I think our personal pages and their ability to create galleries and blogs are terrific

I would love to get BMW news before i pick it up over at Adventure Rider

or Raptors and Rockets or the like. As this is the/one of the corporate sites, i think

we should be the first recepients of  good corporate news. I saw news and pics of

BMW's new Enduro scoot, HP2, GS800 and others, days and in some cases weeks before

they broke on this site.

I would like it if when i post a message in a multi page thread that I am not immediately kicked back to

the first page as opposed to being allowed to pursue my reading on the last page.

In terms of Forums... i would love to see a Racing Forum in which we might discuss all forms of racing.

I would love to see a 'School' forum which would deal with riding techniques for both street and track... on

road and off-road.

I would love to see a Tech Forum Q&A in which people could pose questions and get answers from

a certified BMW wrench as opposed to shade tree mechanics.

And now for the BIG IDEA:

I would Love to see a 'Guest Speaker' Forum which woud be exclusive to XPLOR.

BMW would invite everybody from motor journalist, to racers, to designers, to team owners,

to test riders, to wrenches to famous adventurers etc. etc. to contribute an essay which would

be posted in this section.

I think this would add real value and be a big draw to the site.

But then WTFDIK? biggrin

Dadgum Terry, when you decide to run for office, you've got my vote.

Great ideas.... and now I feel really bad for being so shallow, self-centered, and narrow minded.  Shiva, please put my 10+ post request at the end of the line and get to work on Terry's ideas ASAP!  applause

PS.  I also nominate ROBO for V.P.

Charlie for Parts & Information.

J.C. for Complaint Dept.

Sir Bobby for New Member Evaluations.

Pat for Photography Oversight.

Jean for Group Therapy.

Tim for Humor Submissions & Editing.

Richie for CIA oversight.

Lamble on the International Desk.

Emiliano for Insurance & Adjustments.

Thomas for German Liasons.

Merrill for Poetry Submissions.

Have I missed anything?  wink

Nutman you crack me up.

As a Vice Presidential nominee, I'd like to jump onto Terry's idea of the guest speaker.  I've seen these online live chats.  XPLOR members could be invited to a live chat with someone of interest like Terry suggested.  Imagine being able to chat with a BMW factory designer or such: fantastic.  Terry, you are definitely a forward thinking guy: quite an idea man.

this is a biggie, I'd rate it right up there with electric starters on motorcycles. To be without this feature is just plain archaic.

Thanks Mike.

In addition, and this is a small one, I would like to be able to open the "last page" of a multi-page thread without having to start at page one first.

And, like Merrill mentioned, an auto-log-in feature would be cool too.

And give our moderator a raise
