Anyone else experiance this issue. Thanks NEVER! But, I live down the street from one fantastic dealer - Engle Motors in Kansas City. I've purchased at least five bikes from them in the last ten years. I've also purchased two BMWs and one Triumph out of state and had them serviced at Engles. They are one fantastic dealership!

I suspect you bought your bike from the same dealer I made a purchase from several years ago in FL, except they delivered to me in Texas for free. When it came time for the 600 mi checkup, the dealer in Texas I went to charged me. Only seemed fair as I did not buy the bike there. The next year, when I bought a GS from that same Texas dealer, he did the 600 mi "for free," again only fair as he had made his profit up front. Refusing to do the service at any cost would, in my opinion, warrant a call to the BMW zone manager. With the fall of the Dollar versus the Euro, Beemer dealers don't quite have folks kicking down the doors to buy motorcycles that are suddenly 25% higher than 6 months ago. I don't think I'd get too used to that dealership because with that attitude he probably won't be open too long. That's an opinion I'd share with him, but then I get that way sometimes. Find another dealer. PS, I live 200 miles from my dealer of choice, but I make the ride and bypass another dealer 60 mi closer for one reason: CUSTOMER SERVICE. Now Bob, go ahead and admit it . . . you like coming to Austin, not because Lone Star's such a good dealer, but because in your heart of hearts you're really a Liberal Democrat. GO HILLARY! Everyone DESERVES free health care! As for the guy who's nearest dealer apparently refuses to service every Beemer who's rider shows up with a valid credit card . . . well, I would be surprised if there weren't more details and a broader theme to the story. E, GO NADER! By the way, is that guy even still alive? Present administration excluded, it's hard to get a stiff elected President. Personally I'm a Ron Paul man. Among other impossible proposals, he wants to abolish the IRS. What could possibly be bad about that. In Ron's world you know how everyone would contact their tax attorney? . . . Waiter! C

JC, Dennis K. withdrew a couple of months ago. There are a lot of things I too like about Ron Paul. I suspect, however, that if I knew more, I'd like him less. That seems to be the way I am with all of the candidates that remain. --------------------------------- jean

Charlie, I agree wholeheartedly. Ron is the man! Possibly the last best hope for the country. A strick adherance to the Constitution as it is written, what a novel idea. JMHO Eric

Find another dealer. Huh,........that's funny, the MSRP is still within a $100-250 of 2007 models for 2008 and the wholesale has not changed anywhere near 25%. What are you basing your assessment on? People's confidence in the mortgage and moreover their perceived equity and spending power is what has made any impact in sales just as the exchange rate has suffered, but you're assessment on 25% raise in prices over the past 6 months is completely off base. --------------------------------- 06 HP2 E 02 R11S BoxerCup

I'm guessing Bob may have been talking more about the cost to BMW to manufacture, import, and actually sell their products .... their profit margins are being squeezed... it's that Euro vs. Dollar thingy he mentioned. Or, is it the other way around? I'm confused.... I should have studied harder in that economics class.... Here's a link that discusses Jewelry imports taking a hit due to the Euro/Dollar exchange rate... http://www.allbusiness.com/retail-trade/apparel-accessory-stores-womens-specialty/4247976-1.html Bob has spoken....... I retract my theory..... I never passed economics anyway....but I was pretty good at Algebra..... --------------------------------- ******Mike****** "We choose our joys and our sorrows long before we experience them."

That completely defeats the whole purpose of a dealer service 'network'. Is your dealer saying that he will refuse to service the scoots of all travelers who require servicing while on the road.
Time to contact the mothership.
