The Givi GS 1200 Windscreen !

I just bought and installed the Givi windscreen available from RL motorcycles and it is made very well, but really buffets over 55 mph. I had a Cee Bailey and it snapped last week at 100 mph, Scary ! I had a Cee Bailey also on my 07 K1200GT and I sent it back, and it was junk also. I don't understand how they can sell windscreens without any R&D, but they do? This one is lightyears ahead in design. I love how well its made and looks awesome, except it buffets, HARD ! It shakes my head so hard it gave me a headache. I wish I could find a way to stop it from buffeting because I really like the design. Any ideas?

Here's the link I found that made me buy it.   http://www.r1200gs.info/misc/givi.html  Now they have silver hardware and looks even better. Note; the support arms and how they go thru the screen and use your original hardware. I was amazed how well they thought it all out, except for the buffeting. In this persons description, he mentions he left the bolts out so it will adjust, he meant he left the lock nuts off so it will adjust, because the support arms take up a little more room, I think he was a little confused from his head being shook up like a milk shake. Oh well, I'll keep looking for the perfect GS screen. I know for my GT, it tried three different ones until I tried the z-technique, which is a masterpiece, absolute perfection.

Some say that adding the GS Adventure wings make a big difference, and I'm pretty sure that some have added the Touratech Spoiler,

or Laminar Lip

 with some further improvement too.

But for the absolute best coverage nothing compares to Aeroflow.

Note the lower "Aeroguards" for a total envelope of protection. It's like riding an RT

Excellent ! Well I am sending the Givi back to RL for a 75% refund. The buffeting is unreal. I feel like my head was in the dryer tumbling after a 10 min ride. I'm 6'3 and it does not work for me. The regular Cee Bailey(+4) worked pretty good until it snapped at 100 mph shock, it needed some sort of brace, so I am going to try the new Cee Bailey enhanced windscreen. I have already tryed the laminar lip, it worked well but distracted my vision. I kinda like the Aeroflow, but I feel its overpriced and over done. It has too much fairing, takes away from the look of the bike, non adjustable and has too much mounting instruction and hardware in my opinion.  Thanks for the info. I will keep you posted.

OK, Just recieved the new Cee Bailey Enhanced windscreen and (drum roll),,, Its terrible. Just like the Givi and the Original Cee Bailey(that busted at 100mph). I also I bought Cee Bailey for my new GT with the same results, another untested-over-rated product.

Man what a bummer sad. The C.B Enhanced was the 20' x 18, stupid looking and big enough for a truck. It buffets soooo hard, but a faster vibration like a foot massager. Unlike the Givi,( a tumbling in the dryer feeling), it has a deep fast vibration, that has the same effect really, HEADACHE !

So, I just ordered the new Manta shield from Windstrom after speaking with the owner of Windstrom who makes it. He sounds like he just may have done his homework on this screen and has won a magazine test for the V-strom. It sure looks different. Well, at this rate I may just invent my own shield soon.. One things for sure, if I do, I WILL TEST IT FIRST, before selling a piece of untested crap to my fellow riding buddies and customers. I'll keep ya posted. Dave

A little more feedback on the Givi shield, the owner of RL Motorcycles was an extremely rude man after my second contact with him. I returned the shield to him at a cost of $25 for return shipping and did recieve $104 back from the original $154 cost( $75 to try it). I do not recommend buying from this person as the person did that did the original post, I think he must work there..

OK on with my quest for a GS shield that works.biggrin

Does this mean you do not like the GS ADV windscreen?   I have heard good news about it and I was thinking of going that route for my standard GS.  I may try the winglets first though.

Ok I think we may have a winner ! The Shield by Windstrom, The Manta-GS. I have installed the Comfort or the size in the middle of their 3 shields available and it seems to do what they say. By far the best wind management I have seen so far. Absolutely no buffeting, but its kinda pricey at $300+ dollars.  It has some really heavy duty construction, I have not made up my mind on the framework yet, it seems a little excessive in one way and lacking in another, but so far is the best I've tried. Also, I think if they could incorporate the original hardware a little more it would stay in place better, It has decided to move down on me twice, though that was at 80+ mph. It does not use any of the original pieces, completely their own design. They definately did their homework on this shield and the wind problem, its pretty awesome,. Quiet and smooth. Looks a little odd, but works great.

I will need more time to test. Here's a link.
