Yeah, come to think of it, you've had that new K bike for a while now, but you've been holding back on the pictures. Let's see it. Steven ---------------------------------

Oh my god, you guys are incorrigible!! I leave town for a track school session, level 3 Keith Code Superbike School, at Barber, and return to a new bike. MY NEW BIKE:.... love the color and the side car... now I need a dog!
Bikes at the Code Superbike School at Barber. Mine is always #26 - the only slightly lowered bike.
The museum 2 part turn - ie - the turn from hell:
More wonderful challenges. We got rained out near the latter part of the day.
The Barber Museum.. just a tiny slice. If you haven't been there.. you've seen few types of bikes in your life!! Incredible.. unbelievable!!
Big ART all over the grounds of the track and museum. Very impressive! On to more mundane things... the new bike. If you saw my old one... you've pretty much seen the new one, but she is an '08. Same tricolor beauty.. for now....
No ESA, but put Ohlins on her. Unfortunately, haven't had time to have her tweaked to my needs just yet, even though I ordered the Ohlins with 2 fewer rates... for a smaller person.... she's VERY tall!.
Reinstalled the Remus slip-on. She has the MRA smoked, "original" screen (not yet installed in this photo), Pazzo levers, an MV mount for the GPS, a sweet little mount for the V1, some new tail bags for longer travel, reinstallation of my additional non-BMW plug, autocom to connect all the sounds from the V1, GPS, and MP3... and 2 way radio when rarely used. Almost forgot, she will have R&G sliders - yes the drill through the plastics type...since... that IS the location of impact when the bike slowly falls over...(yeah.. I know all too well...)!! Got the frame slider combo package kit.. so maybe.. just maybe she will fend off scratches for a while....
Photos from a recent jaunt down to see Deb at the D'Rose Inn in Leakey. It was just wonderful to visit with her as always!! Only part I disliked was leaving Leakey. What had been 6 miles of dirt road from construction turned into over 6 miles of nasty black oil laden road with a surprise of very deep gravel spots at the end. Twisties came up very fast after leaving the oil and I found my bike dancing a bit when I went into a corner a bit hot and lightly braked!! Just practicing for sliding the dirt bike around!! Ahhhh... love that adrenaline rush!
Her Pilot Power shoes have about 800 miles on them now... haven't had much time to ride and leaving tomorrow with the girls for CA and dirtbike school. She'll go in soon for her 600 mile service at which time the immobilizer ring with be replaced, hard bag mounts installed (I forgot!), and possibly a new potentiometer installed. That's it kids... hopefully this sweet steed will take me on a solo journey for about 3 weeks this summer.... heading west/north-west. ..... now it is time for the rest of you to fess up... new bike? fun track day? great ride with photos? intense racing? interesting riding challenges? YOUR TURN!! ---------------------------------

Great report Pat--you make Barbers look like serious fun. From the sound of it you have a very nice summer lined up. Jack --------------------------------- "There ain't no Devil, there's just God when he's drunk." -- T. Waits

Beautiful bike. That is my favorite of the K bikes. Very nice mods too.

Hey Pat, Great pics, thanks for sharing, but I think I missed something here: 1) Sorry to hear that you lost the '07 (glad you're OK) 2) Congrats on the new '08 Notice any differences? Oh and BTW, it IS possible to scrape the pegs on these K bikes as I discovered much to my surprise last weekend. Enjoy the new ride!!! --------------------------------- Adults are just kids who owe money

Pat, always a pleasant surprise when you pull into the parking lot. I just loved watching the guys drool over your bike (that was almost literally!). A guy who use to test drive the K Bikes was, shall I say a little excited(?!!!), when he saw the bike and it was so funny when he discovered it was Pat's bike. One of the little pleasures I have owning a motorcyclists only lodging property! I hope you had a great time with the girls. Deb

Hey Kids, no time to address the differences between bikes at the moment.
In San Francisco now with my two girls. We just finished Rich Oliver's Mystery School Off-Road Challenge for dirt bikes. OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah.. it WAS a challenge to say the least. Sore as hell today. No bruises thankfully. More later. Will address the '07 to '08 bike differences. Yeah. Terry.. very good life.. and you know why.... ---------------------------------

Hey Pat, great write up As to what I'm up to: counting down the days to leave for Alaska II. July 18th is the day. I'll be taking the notebook and do some posting from the road. Lately, I'm catching myself more frequently, going through the mental checklist... --------------------------------- Thomas - I like to keep it simple... IBA# 28109 '07 R1200GS Adventure

Lately, I'm catching myself more frequently, going through the mental checklist... Yes Thomas.. red.. I think I'll paint it red! You must be so incredibly excited that your trip is drawing close! How about a thread relating what preparations you have had to make, roads you plan to travel and what you will carry on the bike? Then.. then upon your return, a full blown ride report with lots of photos!! pleeeeeez!! Hope you have a really fine time on your journey! ---------------------------------
