Anyone here a Rush fan?

I've been listening to Rush for years and admire Neal Peart as a drummer.  I just found out though that he is quite the rider.  Rides his GS between shows.  Many great ride reports on his site:

His is a tragic story.

But with a lesson of Hope.

Do yourself a huge favor and get out your old LP's, cassettes, and CD's... and rock out!

I have been hooked since Permanent Waves, after a friend let me borrow his LP. Ouch... showing my age.

Have read all his books. Ghost Rider was the most moving. Although sad, there was the glimer of light at the end. To me it told two stories. The first was his personal loss and second was the vivid description of his travels.

This July I am taking my 13yr old to Charlotte, NC to see them. 1st for him and 7th for me.

By the way... Rush is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year according to the Rush.com web site.

Dave:...............I agree with you. That's why I say read the book at least twice. Once for all the riding and motorcycle philosophy, but a second time to see the arc of this man's life as he finds the spirit to come back to life. .........................Bob

Ghost Rider will be the next book I read.

I see in his latest blog Neal is considering writing another book on biking and travel, ROADCRAFT: How to Work the World.

Dave - I'm sure your son will love the concert.  They put on a good visual show too.  The Tom Sawyer South Park intro was hilarious at the last show.

By the way... they received the 'Order of Canada'... the highest civilian honor passed

out in this country. When i lived in Toronto, i would regularly see Geddy Lee hanging

out at my local cafe. Not going to find a nicer guy. Totally down to earth.

Tobes,

I'm sure he will have a good time. This will be his first concert. I have never seen a bad Rush show.

Terry,

When Geddy was at your cafe, would he be approachable ?? Unlike Neil who stays away from that type of situation.

Rush -- WOW did that bring back some memories!  I saw them about 10-12 years ago when they were playing a chili cook-off near Raleigh.  Funny how at that time people were saying they were on a comeback tour.  I didn't know they were "gone."  Then the announcer said over the PA and now for the 2nd band, "ree-oo."  Those of us who listened to them all the time started laughing as REO Speedwagon took the stage and played that first chord.

You have to give Geddy credit for giving advice on tobogganing.  What a great guy!

Totally approachable... although such a thing

is generally seen as a hugely un-Canadian thing to do. laughing

He would be left largely alone to read or talk with friends.

I think i sat outside at  Cafe Doria  3 or 4 times when he was there

and i can't recall him being approached even once for an autograph.

A fan you ask? I first stared listening to rush almost  30 years ago when I stole my sisters  tape of 2112. since then I've been to 15 shows ( 16 coming up on july 5th). I've read all of neals books, at least once, own every cd and dvd ever relesed. I have a beutifly framed autograph picture hanging in my living room.  I'm either a big fan or a lazy stalker.either way it was neils book ghost rider that brought me back to riding  and eventually here.
