Do any of you go camping on your bikes? I just went on a three day camping trip. Stayed at Willville motorcycle (only) camp ground which is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Meadow of Dan area. This was very nice and inexpensive.

Here is my camp and bike.

Here is the bike packed and ready to go home.

Here is where I went on a side trip. Grandfather mountain. This picture is the highest pedistrian suspension bridge in USA. The wind was over 75 MPH and the railing were singing with the wind (sounded really scary).

This was a real blast. The K1200GT handled the camp gear just great. I had it strapped to the rear hand holds which make great strapping points. Has any one else gone camping? Tell me about it.

Nice rig.  That actually looks like fun and my idea of camping is a Holiday Inn Express.

Absolutely!  I'd honestly rather sleep in my own bag in my own tent than in a hotel room most of the time.

Here's my bike packed up and ready to head out for XPLor Blue Ridge.  I expected to camp out, and so I was fully outfitted.  The soft bag is, far superior to the top case I've used in the past for cargo capacity, although I feel a bit nervous leaving the bike with it attached.

Of course, I"m 6'3", so my clothes take up WAY too muich room.  It's so much easier for my five foot nothing wife to load up a small bag for a weekend.

My campsite setup is simple.  A Eureka Backcountry 2 tent that packs down very small, sleeping and cooking gear, and clothes.  I also carry a tarp, which in the picture below was used to cover the bike.  This was XPLor the Adirondacks, and it rained HARD just after I started setting up camp.  The cooking gear is still stowed in my hard bags at this point, so there's really nothing to see but the cooler bag full of ice and beer on the table. applause
