Hey JC, lunch was great indeed ! Thank you Mike, for this special treat ...just the mayo was missing We still made it to Paducah, KY, completing this day with 725 miles (from Sioux City). Tomorrow it's the final run. Only 400 miles left. Can't wait to sleep in my own bed again...

Thomas, you look pretty comfortable on that bike. 750 miles in one day is gargantuan. Mike, that's a good-looking plate of meat, there. C

C Charlie... sounds like Jack is leaving the mountains in a couple of weeks and riding in to shoot up some sauce... wish you could make it. The beer's darn cold and the meat should at least satisfy a Texan.... you too Bob.

Wish I could Mike, but those days are way not workable for me. I am going to try and order some of that sauce. My brisket technique is getting pretty good, but I'm still looking for a sauce flavor to complement it. The best BBQ sauce I've ever had was in Bossier City, Louisiana from a guy who claimed to be a Kentucky Colonel. The sauce was a thin brown sauce that had a bit of hot to it, and full of chunks of pickle and onion. Just magical. Not too sweet, some hickorey flavor and no Ketchup in sight. But what's a Crusade without a holy grail, right, so my hunt continues. I think the unacknowledged big news in this post is that JC SHOWED UP ON HIS BIKE. Good to see you back in the saddle man. Bob

He and his wife had promised each other that if anything ever happened, I would be asked to be a part of the funeral service..... But, on to the real story ........ after the service, everyone was invited to the American Legion meeting hall.... to celebrate Mr. Mendoza's life... His favorite food? And, thus, what was catered in for friends and family to enjoy? Yep......... BBQ. His wife, by the way, lives in Dallas TEXAS..........

"I "officiated" at a long time client's funeral today" I am in awe of that, Mike. I've got some old Clients above whom I will dance on their graves, and some about whom I'll weep at their funeral, but no Client of mine past or present would think to ask me to speak at their funeral. Of that I'm sure. You need to write a book. No, unfortunately I can't ride into K.C. with Jack. My time away from work is already stretched with the whole racing thing and I'm out of paid time off. Maybe it's time to walk through the door of unpaid time off. C
