So I am very pleased with my purchase of the 2009 BMW F800GS. After riding my '84 R80 GS my '04 R1150 GSA and many 'other brand' dual sport bikes I think I have finally found the perfect bike for my riding needs and style. I typically ride a mix of on and off road and find my self exploring the remote place of Northern California on my mototcycles. I can;t wait to get out and do more with this bike. I thought the XPLOR riders might enjoy and appreciate my first impressions of this new BMW mid sized adventure tour machine...

My first impressions were:

·         it is smooth in the saddle (very little road vibration),

·         Snappy and responsive on the throttle (need to watch throttle control esp. decelerating, it’s very deliberate)

·         light and nimble to throw around in the corners,

·         fast enough (but not overly fast, which could be good for me…)( kinda like other BMW’s it is so smooth  it’s hard to know how fast you are actually going until you actually look at the speedo and find out)

·          a bit of micro vibration in the bars (caused for numb hands at fist fill up, weird though like electrically charged hands, not your normal numb tingly feeling)

·         Very fuel efficient & Great range – avg. mpg 53 (after 2 fill ups)

·         Feels balanced and tall so good for both on and off road (didn’t push the lean too much ‘cause new tires)(would love a set of 17” to see what it would do as a super moto…)

·         Cool computer with all the features, except when it told me it was 50 degrees going over the pass…

Forgot to add an image of my new machine.... Here's the beauty on the 250 mile way home from the Dealer (Ozzie's BMW, Chico, CA)
