Any one with tire choice  tips? I plan to test the elements this year and ride year round in the Upper Pennisula  Michigan. I ride to work daily 80 miles RT,minimal traffic, 60-80 MPH. Spend around 200 miles on gravel and logging roads on weekends . I have no complaints how my stock tires respond, Bridgestone Battlewings.I want to step it up alittle so I have ordered a pair of Continental Twinduros,But I don't expect alot of miles with these( haven"t received yet)all wisdom appreciated

I just started using the Twinduros and like them both on, & especally off, road.  Too soon to tell about how long they'll last but, my gut feeling is they're going to hold-up well.

I think the tire characteristics that make a good off road tire and the tire characteristics that make a good road tire are SO FAR APART that it is IMPOSSIBLE to come up with a good compromise.

With that said, multiple bikes with a trailer or pick up bed can solve the problem very well.

And with that said, when I learned the above lessons, I was running Metzeler Tourance tires, which I did like better than the Bridgestones.... but which were horrid in any serious off road endeavor.

I like the Conti TKC80's.

I've used them in the desert, over rocks, hard pack, water crossings, and sand. They're great.
The only thing I haven't tried them in is mud.

And I've put several thousand street miles on them. They are surprisingly good on the pavement.
You can rail them in the canyons pretty well...

----- EDIT -----

Doh! I just realized the "Twinduro" and the TKC80 are the same tire.
Sorry about that. Oh well, I guess my post can serve as an endorsement of the Twinduro.

Ditto.  My Anakees are great on pavement, but I've been white knuckling gravel and dirt.  Time for a change, and the Twinduros sound perfect.  Thanks, everybody.
