HI, only 24000 mi., I've owned it since new. Yes it still looks new , except for the parts that hit the pickup truck ( front wheel, headlight bucket, part of the frame ) and the parts my body hit ( handlebars, mirrors )!! I'm a 'baby-boomer' that didn't boom but, rather, busted. I had neither time nor money to fix my bike for years. I now have time. If anyone can direct me toward structurally sound used parts I would appreciate that. A H-D rider friend keeps trying to get me to fix my bike so he can have a riding buddy. My biggest concern is the frame where the forks pivot, that vertical section has been bent back at the bottom, the front tire contacts the engine cover now, and it will need frame work. The steering is smooth and quiet, the forks operate smooth and no leaks, so I hope it only needs to be pulled back to the correct angle. Any direction is more than I have right now ! Thanks, see-ya...Doug

Doug, this detailed report does not sound good. Please have a DEALER loook at it. I'd never trust any bike with a bad head tube. I would STRONGLY recommend that you part it out and find something SAFE to ride. (We'd love to keep hearing from you!) Good luck, Ray

Hmmm . . . bent frame at the head tube, eh? And you're sure the forks aren't bent? I'm gonna stand beside Ray on this one . . . without some sound, experienced, professional advice . . . I'm thinking Part Bike, or a new frame. C

Don't take any chances with it. Take it to a dealer. The front tube is probably more damaged than you might think. Heating it and trying to straighten it will reduce its strength and is not a good idea. I would either try to find a good frame (ebay) and use your good parts to fix up another machine, or part yours out. Even after its is fixed that vintage machine in sound condition is selling for between 2500 and 3000 on ebay, to give you and idea of what you're getting into. --------------------------------- If you're not leanin', you're learning

Thanks to all. Those are all avenues that I had imagined. The new frame seems to be the least painful as the bike is too nice to part out. I had "Lone Star" in Austin look at it and their intial thoughts were the forks were probably OK, but wouldn't know without thorough inspection, etc...thanks, see-ya...Doug
