50000 miles in South America

Hi all - i guess I'd better introduce myself.

I'm a Brit, now in the fourth year of my 'one year ride around the world' and completely addicted to motorcycles.

I've been riding around South America for the last three years and *finally* crossed into Central America this month, 50000 miles so far and still going strong.

My trusty steed is a F650GS Dakar, I'd originally planned to ride one-up but met this girl in Peru & now we're two. Despite being horribly overloaded its serving well.

More info on my ride can be found on http://www.smellybiker.com & if anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Regards from Panama City.

Fellow Brit, expatted to Seattle and planning a jaunt down south before they realise I should be sent home. I'll be checking out your blog and may well try and touch base (bloody americanisms sneeking in) at some point. Let me know if you get up the Pac NW.

All the best

Lamble

Sounds like an addiction to me... glad I have it too, but certainly, in no way as "bad" as yours!

Looking forward to checking your site!

Thanks for posting the link.

Hey Bobito laughing

Where the bloody hell are you?  When do you think you'll be back in Arequipa?

We're still in Canada but heading down in Seattle in the next few days, hoping that the USA will let us back in.

Just had word from a freind who runs a beemer garage in Tuson who tells me that Kevin Saunders is with him now with the group that he's touring down to Ushuaia this year, so there's a chance you'll cross paths en-route South.  I'm pretty sure that Kevin's tour goes via Cusco etc.

Love to Angy.  talk soon.

Cheers...Simon

Amazing!!!

You must be a trust fund baby or livin' off the fat o' the land!!

I just got a dakar and want to go to central/south america next winter. It just seems like so much planning and the corruption scares me a bit...any tips about pay-offs and such?

Where to next?

When you say next winter I assume you mean winter 2008?

If that's the case, fancy joining up for some of the ride down. Aiming to leave in October 08. I'm riding down west then back up east. Tom is going one way then shipping back.

Smelly, on your path, do you plan any diversions up the Pac NW this year, as I'm sure I could do with picking your brain on several issues.

I'd be able to put you up, and even offer a bar of soap...here just on the Canadian side of Seattle.
