XPLOR the Pines - April 20

Chatsworth, NJ

This April 20-22, XPLOR's first event kicks into high gear with a dual sport ride in New Jersey's Pine Barrens. Here, XPLOR members who love riding off-road will bomb down the sandy back roads of the Pine Barrens, as well as grab riding tips from Paris-Dakar rallyist Jimmy Lewis. There's also a catered lunch and dinner, and nighttime entertainment. If you dream of whoops and sand, register for the "XPLOR the Pines" ride today.

Probably it's a dumb question but does anybody know how to register? thinking

Hey Donald (is that your name?),

Sounds like a fun event. Where did you hear about it?
It's not on the XPLOR event calendar...

Anyway, sorry I don't know how to sign up, either.

No, but it's my nickname @ Advrider forum. It is OK to call me DD, or Donald...

My real name is Resat.

Maybe you missed that but it is in the event calendar. Steve, thanks anyway. If you're interested probably we'll find eachother over there. Jimmy Lewis will be there, we shouldn't miss that.

Hey, "Resat" is a cool-sounding name... but "DD" is easier to type biggrin

Don't know why the event wasn't showing up on my work computer. Anyway, I did find this on BMW's site...

Funny thing is, it says to look on XPLOR if you want to register. I guess they haven't posted it yet.

Is there a rough itinerary yet?  I have family about an hour away, so I'd assume arrive saturday morning and save myself a night's stay at the hotel.  Unless you guys are starting really early, that is!  Or having some fun stuff on friday night.

Thanks!  Looking forward to this....

It would be nice if we could get some dialog going here with some of the organizers of this event.  Here is what I have pieced together so far:

-sign in friday eve

-Jimmy Lewis riding school saturday morning

-200 mile course in the nj pines (big bike friendly) + hero sections

-access to a mx track

-catered lunch and dinner, and nighttime entertainment

-some free hand outs from bmw (dvd's, etc)

-10 demo bikes (650xchallenge)

-all FREE!!

 Anything I missed?

Hello.  I’m the Event Administrator and I have the scoop.  The event begins Friday night between 6 and 8 PM.  Riders sign in, get their gift bags and the riders' meeting will begin at 8 PM.  Items covered in the meeting are basic safety, a few beginner tips, and how the rest of the event will function.  Registration is Friday night and riding groups will be put together there. This is just so that everyone will have a ride leader and so we don't lose anyone in the Pine Barrens.  I wouldn't want the New Jersey Devil to get to anybody!  Saturday morning we depart from the hotel.  We ride to our first riding location and we have the first 2 school sessions with Jimmy and Heather Lewis.  Everyone will be split into riding groups so that while one group is “in session” the others will be out riding in the Pine Barrens.  Then we break for lunch and go out again for school session 3.  We will head back to the hotel, get ready, and then meet for dinner.  Dinner Saturday night will be provided for all participants.  Sunday we will depart the hotel once again, and head out for another, less training-intensive, day of riding.  Jimmy with offer some tutorials along the way if he sees anything that will be useful for the participants.  There will be G 650 Xchallenge, G 650 Xcountry, R 1200 GS, HP2 and R 1200 GS Adventure bikes available to demo for a short while throughout the weekend and plenty of off road riding through the beautiful Pine Barrens.  The routes have been determined already, the dinner planned and Jimmy and Heather Lewis are on board and rearing to go.

I look forward to seeing you there!
