My ‘91 R 100 GS PD was my first bike, and the bike I learned to ride off-road on. (Smart) I shipped it to Australia in ‘98 but it got lost on the docks for months so I rented an 1100 GS and rode the Outback on that and various other rental bikes. I’ve taken it off-road all over the Northeast. It can be a handful if you get too sloppy, and I’ve had a few dumps but the bike is still running strong. I rode the Hancock Dual Sport Quarry Run in ‘06 – the next biggest bike there was a 650. People thought I was insane. And they were right, it was pretty brutal. The bike is starting to look vintage now so I may put it into semi-retirement and stop flogging it on the trail. Or at least I keep telling myself that anyway. Somehow it always winds up covered in mud. I love this bike and will probably be buried with it someday.
