Daytona Moto-STThis is my first post here on XPLOR, so bear with me. I just wanted to say whay an incredible race we had in the 8 hours of Daytona. To date this was for sure my most exciting race yet. The entire 8 hours were riviting, no one knew who would be leading the next time by and for all of us at San Jose BMW, this is one we will remember. As I took to the bike for my final stint, sub-frame mangled, exhaust hanging, fairing shaking and front brake iffy, I thought just bring it home. After the few laps behind the safety car, I changed my game plan and thought I could win it. The bike to me felt absolutely perfect mid corner and also in a straight line, so i went for it. On the third lap after the restart I was as close to the leader as I had been all race long and really tried my hardest to hang in there with him. Next lap things went a miss. The electronic shifter must have come unplugged, that cost me some time. The brake began to come farther and farther back to the grip and the lead bike began to make a decent gap. So I decided to play it smart and maintain a fast pace, just in case he ran wide on got caught up in some lappers or something, and finish the race. For the final ten rounds or so the brake was done. Every corner I was four fingered across the lever, squishing the grip by pulling so hard to get any performance at all. By the end there was nothing and i had to use the transmission for all it was worth to haul the beemer down. After the checkers I rode down to pit lane and had only the rear brake to stop me, it was cool…. Again, we had the recipe for victory but as racing goes things are out of control for the most part and it comes down to everything being 100% perfect. I think we were fortunate to arrive second with everything that happened. Thanks for the support to all. Brian
