ABOUT ME
Learned to ride on a 185 Suzuki dual-sport in the early ‘70s. Quickly moved to a Kawasaki 350 dual-sport. During gas shortages, when it cost $5 to fill the Beetle, I traded for a Yahama 750 triple! In ‘78, bought one of the first Yahama XS Elevens (at the time, fastest production street bike). In late ‘70s, raced 4WD Broncos in the mid-Atlantic. Most notable was in Danville, VA at what is now Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The ‘80s were spent commuting 130-miles a day on the XS Eleven and discovering great roads in the mid-Atlantic. In March 1990, purchased a ‘71 R75/5 after BMWs were recommended by my brother. Then, was bitten by long-distance riding. Finished 28th in the ‘97 Iron Butt Rally riding an ‘85 BMW K100RT. Since then, there have been several 48-, 24- and 10-hour rallies with varying success. Aboard my current ride, an ‘03 R1150RT, took Larry Grodsky’s Stayin’ Safe course, a two-day track day with Reg Pridmore’s CLASS at VIR, and spent a week riding solo in Ontario & Quebec. In 2001, traveled from Nice, France to Munich with Edelweiss Bike Travel. Since 1990, been an active member of BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington, serving on the Board or as a committee chair.

09/14/07 - Re: N8! Racing at Summit Point (9/8 - 9/9)
Hey Nate, It was great to see you again at Summit Point. I know members of BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington were excited also, as we had our annual club picnic there on Sunday to show our support. Keep up the winning down at VIR over 9/22-23 and in Daytona in October!
Many people were asking if we'll see you at the IMS show for 2008? Do you know if you'll be participating and at which shows? Certainly, we'd love to see you here in DC Jan. 11-13.
See what you can do ...

My 2003 R1150RT shown here during a 2005 BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington scavenger hunt. In the background is my brother, Tom, at the completion of a 15-year building project for his Pitts Special, single seat, biplane for arobatics. He rides a 1987 R100T. After I rode a long string of other bikes, he encouraged me to buy a BMW. In 1990, my first was a 1971 R75/5 white toaster. To compete in the 1997 Iron Butt Rally, I purchased a 1985 K100RT. See you on the road, or at track-side ch...

Congratulations to you and Brian! The bike and you will be 100% for the Moto-ST in Homestead, mid-April.
There's a big gathering of BMW riders coming to cheer you on at Moto-ST at VIR at the end of April (www.virclub.com)!
If you're racing in the ASRA/CCS at Road American for the ThunderBike series over weekend of July 6-8, that'd be a good opportunity for mid-west riders (or anyone) heading to the MOA National to watch you wi...
