ABOUT ME
Is it time to travel again?..............I hold a UK passport but don’t really have a home – my wife and I just have itchy feet. We currently own and operate an inn in Vermont . We suspect we will be off to Canada, New Zealand or even back to Oz within 2/3 years. In between the BIG moves we usually go by bike – I did not own a car for twelve years and rode every day. We have had 10 BMW bikes over the last 17 years and can claim about 400,000 miles over the World. I want to do an RTW but don’t think I am up to it? I raced several classes during 10 years with the Royal Air Force including trials, hill climbs, enduro and supermoto (my other ‘brand’ is KTM). I had loads of enthusiasm for racing but was rubbish! We spent three years in our Knaus (German) motorhome and averaged 1,000 miles a month – whilst working full time. I am big into camping (tent) and did a lot of Winter camping through Europe – I just love the cold! If anyone wants to know about Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark just let me know. My background is engineering (mechanical & electrical) within several blue chip companies.

Fantastic suggestion...............but as Shiva points out the US does not buy enough bikes. Did you know that the UK purchase more BMW bikes that the whole US?

I, like so many others have a certain feelinig about where the products that I purchase are manufactured. I know that if we break down a lot of products we often find that individual components are sourced from many nations.
We do live in an ever smaller World...................but I am not sure about a motor made in Taiwan (I have no doubt that they can manufacture it to the required controlled standards) in my 'German' motorcycle.
Motorcycles in particula...
01/09/08 - Re: Warranty help - USA / Canada
I had a horrible feeling that that would be the outcome. Maybe we need to be more like Europe - I know that if you buy a bike in the UK but should break down in Spain that they will look after you. After all it is an "international' product - surely it is to the benefit of all involved?
Maybe I'll contact a Canadian dealer and have a chat with them.
12/27/07 - Re: New suit - BMW or Aerostich??
I definately know that teh BMW suit is a lot cooler in the summer - Ihave also placed this thread over on the UK GS site and have had a lot of replies. They seem to favour the BMW suit buy maybe that's because they have little experience of Aerostich.
12/26/07 - New suit - BMW or Aerostich??
Your help and experience please.......I have used the same BMW Kalahari suit for 12 years now and used it all over the World, it seems over the years it has started to shrink!!! and so I am going to be replacing it this year.
My requirements are for an all year round suit in temperatures ranging from real hot to real cold. I ride a GSA so I get a lot of protection from the weather.
I am looking at the BMW Rallye suit and the Aerostich Roadcrafter suit. They both se...
