I have to say I've experienced this for a short while when I was test riding a Bonnie T100 the other day.  I kept looking directly in front of the bike, and I don't know if it was because there was no wind screen to look over or a need to look at the cool bike I was riding (probable).  Nevertheless, I had to force myself to look further ahead.  Strangely, it was more difficult to look ahead when I was slowing, and easier when at speed.  Does this make sense...

I enjoyed the original post (can you enjoy something so painful and dark? couldn't think of another word to use) and I'm wonderfully impressed by all the responses.  Thanks everyone for commenting so thoughtfully.
