GS Trophy Event

Hello All,

I thought to share with the surrounding BMW riding community that today i found out i made it to the semi- finals for the GS trophy even that BMW is holding in Tunsinia Africa in October.

I with 19 other will now vie for the 6 finalist spots that will be deturmined on August 15th.

I would like to ask that if any of you can i would greatly appreciate it…. For those of you who have met me or ridden with me to post a comment of support on the www.bmwxplor.com web site on the blog section that i will setting up within a few minutes.

Wish me luck to getting to Africa for the USA, and getting one more continent under my belt for riding

Aug 09, 2008 - good luck!

Aside from your fantastic photos and great trip reports, I think you would make a great ambassador for BMW. They would be fools to not send you off to Tunisia. I look forward to the photos and stories when you return!

Aug 09, 2008 - All the best

BMW has a clear choice. Pick those that race for a glitzy race team or a privateer, one loaded with enduro experience and success, or pick you who emulates what a GS Rider is all about. They should realize you have pushed the GS capabilities far beyond the horizons as their marketing entices. You have crossed the Outback by age 25. By the time you were 30 you have traveled all the north roads of North America, even in inclement weather. Today you are pushing towards 200,000 miles on a BMW much of it on adventurous routes in such a small grain in time. Your youth has inspired even the senior GS riders and overlanders among us. Your ride reports that were featured in BMW motorcycle publications and on the internet medium have been first rate. Your eyes have seen the common bounds across the cultures that unite all riders, and your camera lens has captured it to share with those that wish to follow. You have been blessed with the gift of team building leadership and organizational skills to prepare for harsh stages and challenging routes. This is a sought after asset to any organization that embarks to these enviroments. I have been blessed in my life to have traveled Africa by motorcycle in its raw beauty and far before it was popular. I can confidently say that you will have no problems representing the team and be a cohesive element to unite them towards victory.

So on sunday during my wife's baby shower i and a buddy from the neighborhood (on a Husky) went out to get him some dirt experience.. I took my wife's 650GS since my 1150gs is in the shop getting the rear shock pin replaces... only 154K miles on the oringal shock pin... finally cracked... i went out to get her cycle muddy and show back up at the baby shower covered in mud.... well i did it not in the way i thought... ;-) after head through a section of really nasty muddy deep ruts i slipped inthe mud and ended up on my back in a mud hole... i should know not to stop moving forward and waiting for my buddy... :-) i dont do too well once i am off the cycle.. well the cycle is covered and i had to hose off my jacket for a good 10 mins to get the mud off... even got mud in the back fanny pouch somehow and all the way through the mess vents, my spine/chest gaurd and to my shirt and underwear.... go figure.... Aug 13, 2008 - An ideal representative for BMW and GS

Mike is what GS riders are really all about. He's BTDT and will do it many times again in the future. He'd make an excellent showing for our team.

Aug 13, 2008 - Tunisia is Calling...

Mike is very near a walking ad for the BMW brand... Not only did he send me the financing special that caused me to buy my present baby, my 1150R... He Rides like a man possessed... Many times he's shown up on my doorstep after a 1000-mile spontaneous ride. He is a constant inspiration for those of us who say we're going to do "That" Someday... Mike does it everyday.

Aug 14, 2008 - Have to With Draw

To all.. thank you for the support, it means a lot more to me than most ever know! However due to my wife Lenka's pregancy is moving faster than we expected i need to unfortunately with draw from the GS Trophy competition this year. The finals are just too close to the due date of our first. IT was a very hard thing to have to do put one of my major passions on hold in a manner of speaking for another passion. Family comes first, and the team i a part of with my wife Lenka is more important right now then riding in Africa... I will just have to ride the pants off everyone next year evermore now... as my good buddy TMeierumich put it... i will be even more possessed next year.. thank you to BMW NA for recognizing me for my skills as one of the first "20"
