Touring the Alps

Touring the Alps is the most memorable week of my life. Not just riding but live in general. Either my life has been boring and uneventfull or the Alps are truly magnificent and awe inspiring. I choose to believe the latter.

In my Photo Gallery there is a photo journal of the entire trip.

In 2001 I hosted a German exchange student (Thomas) for a year with my ex wife Sarahjane. He was a great kid and loved motorcycles. In 2003 I was invited to go to Frankfurt to meet the family and ride the alps for a week with Thomas (on the R6), His father (Michael on the green Honda Deauville), His fathers friend (Ralph on the Blue R1100RS), His friends Basti (GSXR750), Christophe (Suzuki Bandit 400), and Sebus (Ducati ST4). I arrived to rent a 2003 Honda Transalp XLV650.

The route took us down the Autobahn from Frankfurt Germany to Munich Germany and into Austria. We hit some roads that I could not believe were not race tracks. It was all perfect asphalt, no traffic, great curves, and even better scenery. Every curve was something new and even better than before.

We stopped the first night at a great country Bed and breakfast south of Zel am Zee Austria on the way to Grossglockner. The tallest point of Austria, a glacier.

We then went to Italy’s Dolomites (pronounced dol-o-mee-tiss). Passed over a few great passes (I will update the names later and provide a travel route map for upload.

We then headed for Hotel Roen in N Central Italy then to Riva d’ Gardia Italy.

Next day put us over Passo de Stelvio. One of the weeks highlights and back into NW Austria for the hotel.

Then into germany to see King Ludwigs castles and load up for the trip back to Frankfurt the next morning
