ABOUT ME
Just picked up my second R1200GS, the new 2008. What a great ride. Looks, feels and sounds different from my 2005. Looking forward to putting more miles in and taking it cross country again.

I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds like a good idea. I'll probably include it if I'm heading out for a cross country run, but for around town or shorter trips I travel light.

The glasses there are really well priced. Can't believe you can get them so cheap. Will try a few just to see. I do wear the Oakleys under my goggles or face shield. If you visit the oakley website and watch their ads, it is amazing how well they work under a variety of situations. Check it out...http://oakley.com/products/325

This is an excellent post. I noted that the toolkit i received with my new bike paled in comparison to the tool kit provided when I picked up my other BMW in 04'. I do carry the first aid kit, my old tool kit with a couple of add-ons for the oil filler plug etc... and a tire patch kit with three 3 C02 cartridges. I watched an instructional video from Globe Riders on adventure touring to show me how to use the patch kit. It also showed me some other tools and items to ta...
07/03/08 - 2008 R1200GS with a 2005 R1200GS tank bag
I just picked up my 08 R1200GS. I put the panniers and topcase from my 05 onto the bike no problem, but the tank bag is giving me fits. The redesigned "tank" doesn't fit well with the old tank bag. I was curious if anyone has ran into this and more importantly, did you find a quick fix? I'd imagine BMW will come out with a new bag design, but don't know how long before the fix is in.
