Florrisant to West Creek, Colorado on CR-3 (impassible)

My maps show a road called CR-3 from Florrisant, CO that runs north to Westcreek, CO. Yes there was something close to a road there once but now it gradually degrades until it gets to a place where its wrecked by the Trail Creek in several sections. I...

Highland Ranch to Cripple Creek/Victor

Rode the Vstrom down 67 from Sedalia to Woodland park. Gotta be careful as 67 is now a speed trap. Some guy on an FJR was being written up on the way back, a sad day for him. Anyway, 67 was clear, not much sand in most places down to Woodland Park. ...

10/21/08 - Re: Victory Vision Test ride

BMW should take some notes on the integrated tip over wings/bars that kep the bike from a lot of damage on a stationary drop.  My Honda ST1300 also had these.  My 1200RT does not so when it fell over it destroyed $500 worth of plastic.  Dumb design, or maybe intentional to drive up parts sales...

They told me there is no way to roll back the new software they installed, which personally I doubt.  Typically you can always wipe memory and reinstall from scratch or roll back.  I mean seriously do you think anyone would design a computer that was notr capable of some kind of recovery?  Or how about installing another engine control unit to see if that fixes the problem?  I wouldn't even care if it was used at this point.

Ok, may this is not such a big deal...

One more thing...oh yeah, I rode a BMW 650 loaner when my bike was in for repairs and I was unimpressed.  It seemed particularly unsuited to the price they want for it (hope I am not offending anyone, just one bozo's opinion here).  It was a crappy road bike in my opinion and I could hardly stand a 10 mile freeway speed ride, like being strapped to a bumble bee.  Maybe it was a decent dirt bike but I have a hard time believeing that based on its size and road m...

CM,

Here in the rockies also.  I have found that three bikes are needed to suit all conditions.  You already have the 100% road bike in the RT.  The other end of the spectrum is the 100% dirt bike, which typically has to be trailered to Rampart or wherever you'll be using it.  The one in between these two is the tough choice.  I went with a 650 Vstrom which is 90% road and 10% dirt.  it is really a pretty crappy heavy dirt bike for anything mildly serious...

05/11/08 - Re: RT tire life = ?

Oh yeah, one other weird thing is that I wore out the front tire before the rear.  That's a total first.  It was past the wear bars and going slick in the sides.  I do hunch forward in the saddle when riding aggressively through the canyon roads so maybe that did the front in.  Weird though.
