ABOUT ME
Started riding when I was about 10 or so on mini-bikes, had a Honda 750 back in college for year and then a 25 year layoff!
Took the dive right into the 1200 GS and loving every minute of it.

11/17/08 - Re: Strange Looks
It happens all the time with my 1200GS. Gas stations, stores, restaurants or wherever, someone wants to talk about it or the very least look it over. I also live in yuppie country and BMW bikes are few and far between but you can't swing a dead cat without knocking some dude off of a Harley.
Last week the wife and I were at a popular "biker" BBQ joint north of Dallas and there were around 20 bikes in the lot - my GS, a Ducati, a custom chopper and about...

Start easy... if you haven't ridden before (or at least haven't been on a bike recently) then you are taking a big first step. I jumped on a 1200 GS two years ago after a 20+ layoff from bikes (except for the MSF course a few weeks before mine got here) and I didn't get out of the neighborhood for a couple of weeks while I really relearned how to ride. That said - these ...

Good job! It takes a special type to do something like that for another and it warms my heart to know there are still some out there.
BTW - You were a few hours behind me but I was on the GS making a run from DFW to Tulsa. That same front caught up with me before I could make the turn around! I was planning to head back to Dallas area that same night but the perpetual tornado warnings sent me running to a hotel room for the night.

05/04/07 - Re: just ordered a zumo, have a question about wiring
I installed one of those Touratech Can-Bus Helper fuse boxes and had the relay wired to the accessory outlet under the seat. Plugged the ZUMO (and my Autocom unit) directly into it and off I go. Everything turns on and off with the key and the fuse box provides another level of protection. I still have a couple of slots left for new goodies.
Not saying it's the best way, but it's an option.
I've read where several people have hooked the zumo power ...
