ABOUT ME
I’m a bike nut. I love to ride. Long trips, day rides, rallies, camping, track days. I live for all of it. Especialy the twisties! In the winter months (Iowa) I ride any day the roads are clear and read every bike mag I can get.
I have owned and ridden a little bit of everything, but until now, never a BMW. I would always want one and talk myself out of it – “too expensive”, “not enough performance”, but deep down I really wanted one. The R1200S was exactly what I was waiting for. The classic Boxer with loads of performance and still comfortable enough for an all day ride. I could not be happier. I kept my other bikes (05 Triumph Sprint ST, Suzuki DRZ400 Dual-sport), but find myself riding the R12S more than any others.
I look forward to some BMW rallies this year and meeting others who appreciate these great machines.

Get well soon Nate. My Son and I are really pulling for you. We plan to be at Road America and the Iowa Race this year and would really like to meet you and pull for you in the races. Hope your recovery goes well. Lots of folks thinking about you.

Check out the XR 1200 Prototype.
This is the first Harley that has sparked my interest at all.
It is a prototype of a "Europe Only" 1200. So not fair.
A bike inspired by American Flat track racing not even available in America?
They are missing out on a lot of guys like me that don't want big chromed and slow.
02/01/07 - Re: rider to rider communication
I've had two different Chatterbox systems and have not been overly impressed with either. They are OK but the Voice activated feature is not easy to get adjusted. If you leave it sensative enough to activate when speaking, wind noise will also trigger it. It does have a push to talk button option, but then you have a chord running from helmet to handlebar.
Another issue is the speakers which may require modifying some helmets to fit and if not fit properly will rub on ears. Also sound...

From Left to Right: My '05 Triumph Sprint ST (1050 triple), '07 R12S, my
Son's SV650 Suzuki, DRZ400 Suzuki (not shown).
I
like variety. Now I have a Single, a Twin and a Triple! A early 70's
Honda 4-cylinder would complete the series. :)

I am the Creative Director for an Ad Agency here in Waterloo, Iowa.
I've been riding bikes for over 30 years. This is my fist BMW! I have
always admired them but it took the new R1200S to get me to sign on the
line. I am a BMW owner for life now. I still have my 2005 Triumph Sprint
ST and a DRZ400 Suzuki Dual-sport. You can never have too many bikes. I
really want to find a clean R90S, The bike that first got me hooked on
BMW.
I enjoy riding/camping trips, rallies, track
days and the occasi...
