Tire change, and a surprise
So I got a new set of tires for my 650GS last week, and on Sunday I set out to install them. What a major pain it was breaking the bead on the rear! I spent about three hours on just the back tire alone, and had to stop the job halfway through on the front. I finished the front on Monday, but I’m still not riding the bike yet… Because my countershaft sprocket is held on by a nut that’s supposed to be torqued to 100 Nm, but is instead finger-tight!
Today I’ll have to ...

Had to delete a ride
155 comments on it, and if I tried to look at it, I got redirected to some page about spam-free guestbooks.
So the ride ‘Ridgewood to BMW WLHQ’ is now gone. I guess that’s OK, it was a short ride I know well, but I wonder if any of the comments were actually real.

New toys to play with!
This was a good week… Well, maybe not for my finances, but I’ve got a couple of cool new farkles.
First up, I’ve got some Optilux driving lights I picked up on the cheap (20 bucks). I plan to fab up an aluminum bracket, and probably hang it from the fender-attachment bolts on the F650GS.
Next up: An Autocom Active Plus Duo Kit. Max BMW is offering them at a really nice discount via the AdvRider boards. I emailed ...

Hot dogs and buns syndrome
Why is it that fork oil is sold in liter (or quart) containers, when it takes 1.22 liters to completely change the oil in my forks? It’s a conspiracy, I tells ya!

More weekend wrenching
Got some plans to take the bike apart again this weekend. Looks like I’ll change the oil in the forks and bleed the brakes. That should keep me out of trouble on Saturday.
Next go-round I think I’ll flush the cooling system… Maybe next weekend. That service is definitely overdue.

Ready to go... I think
I think I’ve got everything ready to go for my trip up to Lake Luzerne for XPLOR the Adirondacks. The Touratech chain guard, ABS sensor guard and flexible (front) turn signals are on. I’ve got a fresh fill of oil and a new filter. My chain is clean and waxed. My camp is packed into my saddlebags. All I need to do is toss some clothes and food into my top case and hit the road…
Left to do:- Load routes into the

I THOUGHT it was Spring!
Isn’t it the middle of April? Why is it only about 27 degrees F. outside? Is this some sort of cruel joke?
Well the joke’s on you, nature, because I’m riding anyway.

Ready to ride
After a few delays, I have my battery back. It’s desulphated, I got itinstalled in my GS, and now the whole mess is attached to the Battery Tender. Hooray! Tomorrow I can commute via motorcycle, and my wife won’t want to kill me for taking HER cage again.
So naturally, the weather will be below freezing tonight, and while most of tomorrow may be decent, I’m seeing signs of possible snow on Thursday. Oh, joy.

Yet another delay
I was supposed to get my battery back today.
I did not. I should get it back tomorrow, though. I’m not paying, and I ought not to complain, but still…
Man, I’m jonesing for a ride. Well, at least I’ve got no reason not to drink this glass of scotch.
Skohl!

Thundery morning out there
The weather makes me… almost glad I drove a car to work today. Unfortunately, in a moment of human spongiform encephalitis I left my motorcycle battery in the garage instead of bringing it here for the technicians to tweak. Dammit.
