09/01/07 - Re: The Haul Road

09/01/07 - The Haul Road

I just finished The Dalton Highway, more affectionatly known as "The Haul Road", up to Deadhorse from Fairbanks in one day and back the next. It was easily one of the greatest rides I have ever done. I did have perfect weather and the perfect motorcycle (R 1200 GS) which really helped. If you have the time.....DO IT!!!!! I have many pictures and a lot more detail if any one is interested.

I check the attachment every time I install the case. I cant force it off no matter how hard I try. It's now strapped down with a ratachet strap, scars and all.

08/14/07 - GS 1200 Vario Top Case

Yes vario owners the top case does come off. I did hit a depression in the road (Newfoundland, Canada) which the GS absorbed easily but the top case did not. I saw it bouncing down the road like a square beach ball shedding plastic all over. It didn't open but there is a lot of damage. BMW needs to fix that.........
