According to CalTRANS, Monitor is once again open -- only going to show that this time of year it is a day to day crap shoot, if weather comes in. In case you don’t have it, here is the link to the CalTRANS web site for road conditions:

Monitor (89) is open, as is Carson (88), usually always is unless a very heavy storm just came thru. We are still waiting for Ebbetts, Sonora, and Tioga.

My advice: up 395, over 89 (Monitor) to 88. West on 88 to 49, and ride 49 all the way to Maricopa -- I think the section of 49 from the junction of 120 to Maricopa is a terrific ride.
