ABOUT ME
Doing what you love is one thing, but how do you wind up loving what you do? For me, it started out a long, long time ago. When I was a mear child, there were two things I loved to do: Ride my bicycle and swim, particularly underwater. Well, as I got older, I thought about Scuba Diving. Hmmm, I like to swim underwater, now I can stay there. So I obtained my Open Water Certification and went on to obtain my Advanced Certification, Nitrox Certification and Scuba First Aid Certification. Then there were motorcycles. Hmmm, I like to ride my bike, wouldn’t it be great if I didn’t have to pedal? As luck would have it, I was dating a girl who had a sister that rode. It was just a matter of time. She wanted a new bike so I wound up with her 200 Yamaha and she taught me how to ride, accompanying me to get my license. Later on, she moved to Knoxville, TN where she got a job as a parts person at a Kawasaki dealer there. Her sister and I visited and while there , she set me up with a bike and the three of us went riding up through the Smokey Mountains. One of the best rides of my life. I guess all these things were spawned out of my extreme need to be outdoors. I love being outside especially in wooded areas and lakes. Anyway, that’s pretty much it. I work for the local Public Utility but as my friend and I often say, we work to support our Social lives!

01/22/08 - Re: heated clothing and amp draw on the R1200RT
I have the Widder vest (and according to Mr. Widder himself, they make the vests for BMW.) I have had NO problem with it at all. Would like to have the jacket but I too was told it won't work and being a purist, I had no intention of doing a direct connect with the battery.
Good Luck!

My other love! Scuba Diving. Enjoy! I've never been in warm water with the exception of some snorkeling when I was on a cruise. The temps up here range from 40 to 60. Can you say "Dry Suit"? <g>
Enjoy yourself!

01/22/08 - Re: R1200RT cold start issue goes to BMW in Germany
Being a member of the Polar Bear Grand Tour, I had this problem last year. I was not happy however...
I pulled out the manual and lo and behold, it did mention that in cold weather, you need to give it a little throttle when starting. I did this and got her to go.
When I had my Harley, the first time I tried to start it in the cold (and I mean only under 40 degrees), it wouldn't start. Turns out it was a faulty ignition modual which they co...
01/08/08 - Re: Cycle World Motorcycle Show / NYC
It just amazes me when I hear things like this. What do they care what you ride?
BTW: I've noticed something with this jacket of ours. I get stranger looks with it than I ever got with leathers and/or club colors.

Hi Geoff,
I was actually thinking of going to the show in DC instead. I heard it's not as crowded and there's a better presentation. Off course, this is second hand.
